The “countryside” is a substantial part of Argentina’s economic and cultural history, literature, tradition and myths: A frontier territory beyond which only dwelled the indigenous peoples of Argentina until the late 19th century; the habitat of the gaucho (another founding myth); the destination of many of the European immigrants who came here to find a better life; the source of the country’s legendary wealth during the conservative era… the Pampas are dotted with towns like San Antonio de Areco (located 70 miles/110 km from Buenos Aires), with its single story houses and its preserved historic center, artisan silversmith workshops and traditional bodegones where homemade empanadas and the no less mythical asado (barbecue) are served. In this full day tour we’ll travel back in time and completely immerse ourselves in this lost world.
